smooth away these wrinkles
When you make facial expressions, tiny muscles in your face contract, causing wrinkles in the skin. Over time and after many expressions, these wrinkles can become more prominent and permanent. Frown lines or brow lines can also make you look not only older but upset or frustrated even when you aren’t. Dysport, similar to Botox, can begin to smooth away these wrinkles with results in just two to three days.

Dysport is an injectable neuromodulator
Dysport is an injectable neuromodulator made with abobotulinumtoxinA that is used to treat dynamic wrinkles in the forehead and eyebrow area. It addresses these wrinkles, also known as brow lines, glabellar lines, or "11" lines, by temporarily weakening the delicate underlying muscles. Dysport has some unique properties in its formulation, with the protein molecules being slightly smaller compared to similar neuromodulators, causing it to penetrate tissue more easily, resulting in natural-looking results more quickly.
Dysport and Botox are both made with botulinum toxin type A and work by "freezing" small muscles in the face.
However, there are key differences between the two. Botox typically takes longer to produce noticeable results and has larger protein molecules, which means it has slightly less spread. In contrast, Dysport kicks in quicker than Botox and has slightly greater spread in the tissues. Both are wonderful products, and understanding these properties assists the injector in planning your injections.
Dysport results can be quite profound and beautiful in some patients. Smoothing forehead lines can make you look younger, brighter, and more refreshed. Our New Orleans Dysport patients enjoy benefits including:
Almost anyone is a candidate for Dysport treatment.
You should wait to receive this treatment until your prior neurotoxin has worn off. With Dysport New Orleans patients have a great option for those who do not respond well to Botox or other neurotoxins or who have developed tolerance to other neurotoxins.
we will take the time to get to know your aesthetic goals
During a consultation, we will take the time to get to know your aesthetic goals and your overall health and wellness. If we determine that Dysport is the optimal treatment for you, we will create a customized treatment plan. We may ask that you pause certain medications and supplements to prepare for your injection appointment, including alcohol, NSAIDs, fish oils, and other things that can thin your blood, causing increased bruising.
In preparation for the treatment, your skin will be cleansed, and we will apply a topical numbing cream to the area if preferred. Dr. Melancon will then inject Dysport precisely into the facial muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles for a beautifully natural result. Most treatment sessions only take about 15 to 30 minutes.
Some patients experience mild bruising, redness, or tenderness at the injection sites, but there is no downtime after this procedure. Results usually begin to appear in two to three days, with optimal results around 7-10 days after the treatment. For most patients, you receive routine Dysport treatment every 3-4 months.
Not only does Dr. Melancon have a background in art and an education that specifically focuses on the face alone, but she has also participated in research studies and contributed to several professional publications. She has a commitment to excellence and patient satisfaction with her injection techniques. Dr. Melancon is dedicated to her patients and the ultimate success of each and every procedure or treatment she provides.

Minor side effects could include swelling, redness, or irritation at the injection sites. Occasionally, you may bruise, though this is rare.
You should not receive Dysport if you are pregnant, if you have a history of myasthenia gravis (can worsen symptoms) or other neurodegenerative conditions, or if you have an allergy to cow’s milk protein or botulinum toxin.
Dysport results usually last about three to four months for the majority of patients.
Patients ideally need to wait at least 90 days between neurotoxin injections. Patients typically get maintenance treatments once they start to see the effects fade.
There is no sedation involved with Dysport injections, so you will be able to drive and resume your regular routine right away.
The cost of Dysport depends on the extent of treatment and how much serum is needed. Our office uses “Botox equivalent unit” pricing, which is $14.00/unit, at the product conversion rate of three Dysport units to one Botox unit.
