Consultations and Preparation

Scheduling

We are so excited to meet you and to better understand your aesthetic goals. After your appointment is scheduled, you will receive an email with access information to your patient portal. Please take a moment to fill out the required information and sign the patient forms found within your patient portal to make your appointment seamless and efficient. Please contact our office for assistance if you cannot access the patient portal. If you cannot complete the forms before your appointment, please arrive 15-20 minutes early, so you have plenty of time to complete the required information.

Pre-Consult Phone Call

For all surgical consults, you should anticipate a call from our Patient Coordinator before your appointment. The purpose of this call is to answer any questions you may have, to discuss what to expect at the appointment, and to ensure that your appointment is as high-yield and productive as possible.

In-Person Consultation

There is a consultation fee of $105 associated with initial consultations. However, the consultation fee can be applied toward the surgical procedure if scheduled within the first 90 days after the consultation. Before the initial consultation, you are always welcome to send in a few photos for Dr. Melancon to review on a complimentary basis to ensure that you would be a candidate for surgery.

There is reserved parking behind the building for Audubon Facial Plastic Surgery patients. There is also a private entrance at the back of the building. If you want to utilize this entrance, please call the office number; someone will let you in through the back entrance.

During your consultation, you will meet with Dr. Melancon, and she will review your medical history and perform a physical examination. You will together discuss your goals, and she will recommend a treatment course based on your goals. Depending on the type of surgery, she may use our software to use morphing imaging to ensure that you have a mutual objective for surgery and to show you what surgery could offer you. You will also meet with our Patient Coordinator to review pricing and scheduling.

Virtual Consultation

Virtual consultations are available for patients living outside our immediate area (>1 hour away) and are done via Doximity, a HIPAA-compliant service. During your virtual consultation, you will meet with Dr. Melancon to review your medical history and discuss your surgical goals. You will also meet virtually or via phone call with our Patient Coordinator to discuss a quote based on your discussion with Dr. Melancon and review scheduling options.

Surgery Scheduling

The surgery location depends on the surgery type, the need for sedation or general anesthesia, and desired surgical date. If the surgery can be performed under local anesthesia, this is typically performed in the office setting. If sedation or general anesthesia is required, this will typically be performed at Vivere Audubon Surgery Center or Ochsner Baptist. Though exceptions occur, we usually book out 6 weeks in advance.

Pre-Operative Visit

Generally, two weeks before your surgery, you will have an in-person pre-operative appointment to review the surgical plan, answer any questions, review medications and instructions, and take pre-operative photographs. For out-of-town patients, most times, this appointment can be done virtually.

Health Clearance

Depending on your age, health issues, and the type of surgery, you may be required to obtain clearance from your general physician or a specialist, along with an EKG and basic labs.

For Out-of-Town Patients

Post-surgery, we request you to stay in town for 7-14 days, depending on the type of surgery. This will allow close initial follow-up by Dr. Melancon to ensure your initial healing is the best it can be. After this time, virtual follow-ups are an option if you cannot return.
