What Is A Brow Lift?

COMBAT THE EFFECTS OF GRAVITY

As you begin to age, your face bears the brunt of the outward changes, especially as gravity begins to work against you. It also accelerates the effects of the loss of collagen in your skin, which reduces the elasticity in your skin. As a result, your eyebrows and upper eyelids may begin to droop. A brow lift is designed to correct these changes to your upper face. It targets the brow position and is designed to lift the skin and soft tissue in your forehead and eyebrows, giving your brows and eyes a more rejuvenated, youthful appearance.

Benefits of a Brow Lift

lift drooping brows

A brow lift is intended primarily to lift drooping brows that have fallen due to gravity. This can also help remove sagging and extra skin over your eyes as well as smooth lines in your forehead and eyebrows, particularly between your brows. If your eyebrows are uneven due to one drooping more than the other, a brow lift often improves this. Many people also choose to combine brow lifts with facelifts in order to create an overall lift of the entire face and reduce sagging skin all over.

Am I a Candidate for a Brow Lift in New Orleans?

A brow lift is an excellent way to address aging in your eyebrows and forehead.

If you would like to know more, you will need to schedule a consultation with New Orleans facial plastic surgeon Dr. Claire Melancon in order to make sure you're eligible. Ideal candidates are in generally good health for this procedure. Call Audubon Facial Plastic Surgery to schedule your appointment. Our goal is to help you achieve the best browlift New Orleans can offer.

The Brow Lift Procedure

This is an outpatient procedure that will allow you to return home the same day. While surgery normally lasts up to two hours, it can be longer if you combine it with other procedures, such as a facelift. You may have sedation or general anesthesia, depending on what you decide with Dr. Melancon.

Audubon Facial Plastic Surgery offers two kinds of brow lift procedures.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

This is a minimally invasive procedure that involves several smaller incisions behind the hairline, which are then used to allow special endoscopic instruments to elevate the brows and forehead skin.

Pretrichial Brow Lift

This is a surgical procedure that focuses on reducing sagging in the forehead and eyebrows by making an incision along the hairline and removing excess skin, elevating the brows. The incision is carefully beveled in order to encourage hair growth through the incision, hiding the incision. The pretrichial brow lift is more ideal for those with a high forehead.

Recovery After a Brow Lift

After your brow lift procedure at Audubon Facial Plastic Surgery, you can expect swelling for anywhere from two to six weeks. You may also have bruising and soreness for at least a week. It’s important to refrain from going back to your daily activities and obligations for at least a week. Stitches are usually removed after 10 days.

Brow Lift FAQ

If you find that whenever you look in the mirror, your expression always looks angry, depressed, or exhausted - even when you're not - due to sagging eyebrows, you might want to consider a brow lift. This surgery will not only create a happier expression, it will reduce signs of aging by easing lines on your face.

There may be some mild pain after the surgery due to tenderness, aching, and bruising, which you can relieve with painkillers. There may also be some areas of itchiness or numbness as you heal, but that will fade over the next three months.

Sort of. While any incision made in your skin will leave a scar, these incisions will be hidden behind the hairline, which reduces their chance of being seen. In addition, after the scars heal, they will lighten and fade in appearance.

The cost is based on which brow lift procedure you have. As brow lifts are normally cosmetic elective surgeries, they are not covered by insurance providers. You will need to cover the costs yourself, but there is financing available, or payment plans if you need one.
