What is Hairline Lowering?

Reduce forehead height

Hairline Lowering, or hairline advancement, is a cosmetic procedure that reduces the height of your forehead. Also known as forehead reduction surgery, this surgery results in a shorter forehead and subsequently a more balanced face. This procedure can also be combined with a brow lift, if desired.

What Are They Benefits of Hairline Lowering?

Decrease the prominence of your forehead

New Orleans hairline lowering can help reduce the size of your forehead, which affects the entire proportion of your face. By decreasing the prominence of your forehead, you can bring the rest of your features into better harmony. The procedure also uses the same incision as a trichial or “hairline” brow lift, so if desired, a brow lift can be performed at the same time.

New Orleans facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Melancon will begin by marking the part of your forehead that will be removed. She will then make incisions along the hairline according to these marks. Next, the scalp is elevated all the way to the back of the head and then brought forward. The extra skin from the forehead is then removed, shortening the forehead. Once complete, Dr. Melancon will meticulously close the incision with sutures along the hairline so that the scar will be minimized and hidden as your hair grows back.
